We gather water from people’s adventures over the summer in a common vessel. \u00a0I like to then bless the water. \u00a0Here is my blessing for this year (2013):<\/p>\n

What a joy for us to gather our water\u00a0in a common vessel.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Though we’ve gathered water from many real places<\/div>\n
\u00a0and many virtual places<\/div>\n
The molecules of water we each have contributed\u00a0to the common vessel<\/div>\n
\u00a0have known all these places.<\/div>\n
Each drop we have poured in has fallen from the sky,<\/div>\n
\u00a0flowed across the land to the sea,<\/div>\n
\u00a0and returned to the sky again,<\/div>\n
\u00a0countless times.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

We too, may have returned to this room many times<\/div>\n
or this may be the first time we are here.<\/div>\n
Yet, in spirit, we have all met each other<\/div>\n
many, many times.<\/div>\n
In the grand scheme of life,<\/div>\n
the chemicals that make up our flesh and bones<\/div>\n
the air that we breath in and out,<\/div>\n
even the gallons and gallons of water we have drunk,<\/div>\n
connect us all together.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

We are made of the same stardust,<\/div>\n
sprouting legs to walk on the earth<\/div>\n
and arms to reach for the sky.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0May the merging of our water<\/div>\n
remind us of our fundamental unity of being and spirit.<\/div>\n
We are not alone and separate<\/div>\n
though we walk on this earth only for a short time.<\/div>\n
When we come together in community<\/div>\n
we make real the truth of our deep interconnection.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

A oneness of the spirit of life that knows no end.<\/div>\n
